At least five people were killed in the crash. The identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained, said police. Some eyewitnesses said that one of them even tried to escape by jumping off the plan but failed to do so as it came down in no time.

According to reports, the chartered plane, a VT-UPZ King Air C90 belonged to the Uttar Pradesh government. The plane reportedly crashed while landing.

A thick black smoke was seen rising above an under construction building near Sarvodaya Nagar area in Ghatkopar where it crashed.
